John Nienhuis Wisconsin & Midwest Agriculture Photographer
Is this heaven?
No, it's Iowa...or Illinois, Indiana or Wisconsin.
Everyone has their own field of dreams, but luckily we don’t all hear voices telling us to build a baseball diamond in a cornfield. We may dream about working as a bank exec in a downtown high rise, or maybe dream about living in a cottage in the woods. And then some people dream about working on a farm, where your office is a field and your daily view is a breathtaking sunrise.
As part of an ongoing testimonial campaign for Growmark, John and his crew shot on soy bean farms and corn farms from dawn to dusk, moving to a different Midwest farm each day. There were no options for elaborate pre-pro; no time to wait for Mother Nature to cooperate, and there were no guarantees that the corn would be knee high by the 4th of July. But just like other shoots, you just go the distance and work with whatever you’re given.
John learned early in this project that a field is just a different kind of boardroom, and a farmer is a CEO in blue jeans. Both have products they need to nourish and protect, and both need to be efficient with time and money. They want striking photography images to show the pride they have in their business and to convey the happiness they have in living their dream every day. Welcome to John’s field of dreams...the opportunity to shoot a beautiful image of a real person living their dream. John too is one of the lucky ones, living his dream behind the camera his entire life. Hey, maybe this is heaven after all.
So, the next time you hear that little voice in your head saying it’s time for a photoshoot, whether it’s in the city or the country, or anywhere in between, let John and me assure you that if you call us, he will come.
Dream the good dream.
